The Stockings Were Hung…

It is time to get this thing started, so for my first post, I have chosen to share the very first sock/stocking I ever knitted!  I have been knitting for several years now, but until a few months ago, I have failed to step outside of my scarf/well, okay – just scarf, “box.”  So I finally decided to try something new, and this was my first attempt!  It came out PERFECTLY!  I knitted mine with a set of size 8 needles, and I did not include the eyelash yarn that was recommended to make the toe, heel, and cuff fluffy.  The instructions, which you can find here at www.knittingonthenet.com were very easy to follow and I used this video from www.youtube.com to learn how to do all of the new “socky knitty things” that I had not yet learned.  And this is how it turned out!

KnittedStocking

I highly recommend that anyone use a large stocking like this to help learn how to knit socks.  Of course, I need to get started on ones for the whole family to use at Christmastime next year (with a much wider area to fit Santa’s goodies!).
